From History

The history of grounds making up the commune goes back to the times of kings Kazimierz III the Great and Władysław Jagiełło. The earliest records mention the village Góra whose chronicled history goes back to 1324. Jaraczewo, the seat of self-government, used to be the residence of the Jaraczewski family with the coat of arms Zaremba. However, the history of settlement in the area is much earlier as show archaeological findings. especially box-type graves dating back to the 5th-3rd century BC.

On the basis of historical sources it has been established that the village Jaraczewo has been the centre of the land from times immemorial and therefore it is mentioned in the majority of documents concerning the region.

The year 1394 is assumed to be the date of founding the village as court's archives from that period cite the name of one member of the mighty then family Zaremba, namely Beniamin from Jaraczewo.

The first name was very popular in this family. It was also the name of the mentioned above Zaremba’s son referred to as Beniamin Młodszy (the Younger) or, in short. Benek from Jaraczewo. Church archives contain a 100 years earlier record on Jaraczewo, Holding in 1294- 1317 the office of Poznań bishop Andrzej Zaremba is supposed to have consecrated St Mary Magdalene’s church in Jaraczewo what follows from the fact of the church receiving tithes from villages: Gola, Jaraczewo and Wojciechowo.

Events of the year 1369 should not be forgotten as well. In the face of the expected death of king Kazimierz Wielki (the Great) who had no male heir, succession was greatly debated on in Poland. Among knights of Wielkopolska the idea of crowning prince of Oleśnica from the dynasty of the Piasts, Konrad II was popular. On 9 September 1369 in Milicz twenty lords of Wielkopolska committed himself to support Konrad with their troops. Beniamin from Jaraczewo was among them.
